After being named Sun Belt Co-Hitter of the Week on Tuesday, Christi Orgeron was tabbed the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Hitter of the Week on Wednesday as voted upon by the state's sports information directors.
She led UL in every offensive category over the weekend at the Razorback Invitational, recording a .647 batting average, a .600 on-base percentage and a staggering 1.412 slugging percentage. Through five games, she posted 11 hits, including four doubles and three home runs.
The right-handed slugger posted a team-high 14 RBI as the Cajuns went 4-1 over the weekend.
Against Drake, Orgeron hit three doubles and hit two home runs and a career-high seven RBI in win over Southern Miss.
She did not strikeout in 17 at bats and extended hitting streak to seven games.
Orgeron shared the Sun Belt award with Mallorie Sulaski from Western Kentucky.
It was the third career weekly honor for Orgeron from the conference and the first from the LSWA.
Orgeron and the rest of the Cajuns will return to the field for a doubleheader against McNeese State on Thursday at Lamson Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT.
