Aubin Goporo, who guided Florida Air Academy to five boy's state titles in 18 years and served as the FIBA Head Coach of the Central African Republic National Team, begins his first season as the Director of Student-Athlete Development for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team.
Goporo, a member of the Central African Republic National Team that competed in the 1988 Olympics, posted a 355-52 record in 15 seasons as head coach at FAA and guided the Falcons to Class 3A state titles in 2001 (31-0), 2003 (29-0), 2005 (32-0) and 2007 (26-3).
His teams claimed the district title in each season during his tenure, with 10 regional final appearances and seven trips to the FHSAA Final Four. Goporo was named the State Farm Coach of the Year during his tenure at FAA and was a two-time Space Coast Coach of the Year
Among the 40-plus players he would coach who would sign with Division I schools included former Ragin' Cajuns letterwinner Josh Soto (2012-13).
Goporo also coached eventual Division I players Ioannis Papapetrou (Texas), Sasha Kaun (Kansas), Jerome Jordan (Tulsa), Will Yeguete (Florida), Walter Hodge (Florida) and Gilberto Clavell (Sam Houston State).
He graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1996 with a degree in Business Administration.
