Cajuns Fall to No.5 Baylor in Spring Opener, 7-0

The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team dropped its dual match opener against the fifth-ranked Baylor men's tennis team, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

“This was a good experience for us to face a team like Baylor early in the season,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “I give a lot of credit to Baylor. They are a very good team and just outplayed us today. Baylor has a great atmosphere with their crowd. Now we have to regroup and get ready to face another great team in Texas A&M tomorrow.”

The Bears took the doubles point despite a win at No. 3 doubles by Cajuns Yanick Mandl and Brandon Farine (8-2).

Although fifth ranked Baylor swept the match, the Cajuns had several players take multiple games in singles play with Mandl leading the group forcing a super tiebreaker at No.3 singles.

The Cajuns return to action tomorrow at noon when they face No.11 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
