LAFAYETTE - The Ragin' Cajuns soccer team is hosting a “Breast Cancer Awareness” match in their season finale against UL-Monroe at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility on Friday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match in support of breast cancer research.
The Ragin' Cajuns will wear black uniforms trimmed in pink, with a pink Ragin' Cajuns logo and numerals. A silent auction of each player's worn jersey will be conducted at the main entrance.
In addition, UL's portion of the normal 50/50 raffle contest will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36.
Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Together with its Affiliate Network, corporate partners and generous donors, the Komen Foundation has raised more than $740 million for the fight against breast cancer.
