Second Straight Week, Orgeron Grabs SBC Honor

For the second straight week, Christi Orgeron, was recognized as the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the Sun Belt league offices.
Orgeron has been awarded the first two SBC Player of the Week honors this season, after helping the Cajuns to a 4-0 record over the weekend and winning the 8th Annual Mardi Gras Invitational.
The New Orleans native was named Co-MVP of the Mardi Gras Invitational and was 2-for-4 with five RBI and a grand slam in an 11-1 win over UTEP. The Preseason Sun Belt Player of the Year launched her second grand slam of the weekend in a 9-0 victory over Louisiana Tech.
Orgeron finished the weekend leading the team with a .615 batting average, four homeruns, 15 RBI, nine runs, 22 total bases, 1.692 slugging percentage and an on base percentage of .625. Orgeron's 15 RBI were more than any other team combined in the tournament-Louisiana Tech and Northwestern each combined to drive in 12 runs as a team.
The Cajuns return to action next weekend as they travel to Clearwater, Fla. to participate in the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Louisiana is set to play Mississippi State, Hofstra, Boston University, Michigan, and Winthrop in the tournament.
