Cajuns Win at Old Dominion, 5-2

The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team bounced back from their loss tough loss against VCU with a 5-2 win over Old Dominion at the Folkes/Stevens Indoor Tennis Center on Tuesday.

“The guys were a little tired today after a long match yesterday,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “I felt like we didn't play well as a team today, but sometimes you have to learn to win when your not at your best. That's what we were able to do today. We went up quickly 3-0 and Yanick Mandl closed out the match at No.3 singles. We need to get better with a good week of practice.”

UL took the doubles point after wins by Rick DeGroot /Carlin Murray and Jarred Wynan/Damian Farinola.

In singles play, DeGroot and Wynan picked up solid wins at No1 and No.6, while Ted Nilsson gutted out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No.5 singles.

Mandl notched the match clinching point for UL at No.3 singles defeating Carlos Lopez Villa 6-4, 7-6.

The Cajuns are back in action next Wednesday, Feb. 29 when they open a nine-match homestand with No. 6 Kentucky at Cajun Courts at 1 p.m.
