BATON ROUGE – The Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field squad continues the outdoor portion of the 2012 season Friday-Saturday, March 23-24 competing in the LSU Relays at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the LSU campus.
Head coach Lon Badeaux was pleased with his squad's effort during the Louisiana Classics last weekend and is looking for his team to continue to make progress.
“We are just looking to build on the performances and standards we set last weekend,” Badeaux said. “The weather looks great and the competition should be good, so we are excited to get back to the track.”
Fans can enjoy an exciting weekend of world-class competition beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon following a brief opening ceremony.
Morning sessions are also scheduled to begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the field events and Saturday at 9 a.m. in the field events followed by the first events on the track at 9:30 a.m.

Kacey Elphage is coming off a personal-best time of 13.59 seconds which placed her third overall in the 100 meter hurdles at the Louisiana Classics. Maes claimed second place in the men's high jump with a recorded height of 2.10m/6-10 ¾ which bested his previous personal best of 2.09m/6-10 ¼ that claimed him top honors in the Arkansas State Invitational heptathlon during the indoor season.
Brittany Blunt, a junior college transfer from Coffeyville CC, made her Division I outdoor debut for the Cajuns at the Louisiana Classics last weekend and turned in a school record-setting performance. She participated in the women's hammer throw and notched a distance of 49.97m/163-11. The mark landed her a Top 10 finish in the event.
Freshman Mayme Cook, a product of Notre Dame High School of Crowley, has had a strong showing in the women's javelin throw. She opened the outdoor campaign with a distance of 43.71m/143-5 at McNeese and improved upon that in the Louisiana Classics with a distance of 46.58m/152-10.
