Volleyball Headed to Houston for Tournament at Reliant Center

2nd Annual F.A.S.T. Complex Collegiate Invitational Flyer
LAFAYETTE – The Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team travels to Houston this weekend to participate in the Second Annual F.A.S.T. Complex Collegiate Invitational being held at the Reliant Center on Saturday, March 31.
The Reliant Center is located near Reliant Stadium. Admission to the matches is $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for senior citizens and students. Play begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 5:30 p.m.
Participation in the event marks the third weekend tournament for Louisiana in the 2012 spring season. The Cajuns hosted a tournament at Earl K. Long Gym on March 17 and took part in the LSU Spring Tournament on March 24.
The Cajuns will play four matches on the day starting with Baylor at 9 a.m. on Court 1 to be followed by an 11 a.m. scheduled start against Houston on Court 2. After a break, UL plays UTSA at 1 p.m. and concludes with 3 p.m. match vs. SMU, both matches on Court 2.
Other teams competing include Baylor, Houston, LSU, Lamar, North Texas, Oklahoma, Rice, SMU, Sam Houston State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Wichita State and UTSA.
The F.A.S.T. Complex Collegiate Invitational is being held in conjunction with the 2012 Junior Volleyball Association World Challenge.
“This weekend will be an incredible opportunity to showcase our program in front of hundreds of young volleyball players,” head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot said. “Being able to compete against teams from the Big 12 and Conference USA and the WAC gives us an idea of where we can compete this fall.
“We have made so much progress in our mental game this spring and this will be a time to find out how well we hold up.”
