Orgeron, Myers Tabbed All-Americans by College Sports Madness

LAFAYETTE, La. – Senior outfielder Christi Orgeron and junior shortstop Nerissa Myers were recognized as first and third team All-Americans, respectively, as announced by College Sports Madness on Wednesday.
 
Orgeron leads the country with 91 RBI this season and was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after pacing the league in homeruns (21), slugging percentage (.848), total bases (140) and walks (41). The fifth-year senior has six grand slams this season and nine in her career, which are both tied for NCAA records. The New Orleans, La. native is a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.
 
Myers represents the Cajuns on the third team and leads the nation in runs scored with 76 on the year. She is two runs away from breaking the Sun Belt and UL record of 77, which she tied last season. The Petal, Miss. native leads the SBC in on base percentage (.517) and is third in the NCAA with 74 RBI. The First Team All-SBC selection is second on the squad in homeruns (12), slugging percentage (.732) and total bases (120).

Louisiana (49-4) is set to host their first regional since 2002 this weekend as they open up on Friday against Mississippi Valley State on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Lamson Park. Joining the Cajuns and Devilettes in the regional are Stanford and Baylor, who will play the first game of the day on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
