UL Opens up Home Schedule Against Prairie View A&M on Friday

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns soccer team looks to build off their season-opening 2-1 overtime victory over McNeese State when they host Prairie View A&M Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.

Friday's contest will be the first home game of the season for UL. The Cajuns are 4-2-6 all-time in home openers.

Louisiana (1-0) is coming off a thrilling overtime victory over the Cowgirls on Tuesday evening in Lake Charles, La., where senior Gayla Foster scored the game winner on a header in the 96^th minute. Freshman Brooke Gros was credited with the assist on the play as she served a great ball to the far post off a corner kick.

Junior Shelby Isley picked up right where she left off in 2011, scoring the first goal of the season for the Cajuns in the 71^st minute. Isley tied a team-high last season with four goals scored.

Senior goal keeper Amanda Moorefield notched her 18^th career victory on Tuesday, adding to the record books as the school's all-time wins leader.

Prairie View A&M (0-1) travels to Lafayette seeking their first victory of the 2012 season. The Panthers suffered a 1-0 defeat of Sam Houston State on Friday, Aug. 17 to kick off their year.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series 1-0 after topping Prairie View A&M, 3-0 in Lafayette last season on Sept. 4, 2011. Delaina McGee, Melissa Minton and Maci Andrus each found the back of the net in the contest.

Following Friday's match, the Ragin' Cajuns will travel to Oxford, Miss. on Sunday, Aug. 26 to challenge SEC foe Ole Miss.
