CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Despite outshooting Campbell 16-13 in the match, the Ragin' Cajuns soccer team fell to the Camels 4-0 in the opening contest of the Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C.
Hayden Gibson led all Cajuns (4-4-0) with four shots on the afternoon and three on goal. 13 of the Cajuns 16 shots came in the second half. Campbell (4-1-1) had a 6-2 edge in corners.
The Camels took an early 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute on a goal by Ashley Clark. Clark settled a pass from Cissy Nitz and netted an open look.
In the 38th minute, Campbell increased its lead to 2-0 when Michelle Procaccini found Alexis Prada for her first goal of the season.
Taylor Brown made the score 3-0 in the 63rd minute netting a goal off of a Clark corner kick.
The Camels capped the scoring in the contest in the 90th minute when Clark posted her second goal of the day.
The Cajuns close out their North Carolina road trip on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT when they face Gardner-Webb at the Catamount Classic.
