LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team is scheduled to get the 2013 spring season underway this weekend with a pair of dual matches in Colorado as they will face Denver and Air Force.

“We are very excited,” head coach Greg Harkins said. “This is our kickoff weekend and we are going to have five freshman in the line up this year. Denver and Air Force are deep squads, and we are going to take them seriously. We know that this is going to be some good competition to get things started this weekend.”

The Cajuns open the weekend with an 8 p.m. CT match against Denver on Friday in Denver, Colo. before heading to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face Air Force at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday.

The two contests are part of a six-match road swing for Louisiana to start the season ending on Feb. 16 at Stephen F. Austin.

“Our schedule is going to test us right away.” Harkins stated. “You have to be able to win on the road as well as home. It's also not bad to load the schedule with road matches on the front side, that means we have a lot of home matches down the stretch.”

The women's squad will feature a new lineup this year with only three starters returning from a year ago. The Cajuns will lean heavily on five freshmen - Eleanor Bradshaw, Nicole Breaux, Melissa Burckhartt, Juliette Clement and Bailey VanDyke.
