Pearce, Hodges Named LSWA Co-Freshmen Of The Year

Pearce named to men's team after leading Cajuns in 2013
LAKE CHARLES – The freshman tandem of Logan Pearce and Claire Hodges earned postseason awards as the duo earned Co-Freshman of the Year honors on the 2013 Louisiana Sportswriters Association Cross Country team in a release on Sunday.
Pearce, from West Monroe, was named the Men's Co-Freshman of the Year and was one of seven runners named to the LSWA Men's team. Hodges, from Kingwood, Texas, was named the state's Female Co-Freshman of the Year and sharing the award with Katherine Smiley of Tulane.
Pearce finished as the Cajuns' top runner in all six events he competed in during the season earning three top-10 finishes in the process. The true freshman, who was twice named the Sun Belt Conference Male Runner of the Week, finished second overall to lead Ragin' Cajuns at the Azalea City Classic, completing 8K course in 24:55.52. He placed eighth overall at the McNeese State Cowboy Stampede and 10th at the Florida State Invitational.
Hodges, who competed in all six events for the Ragin' Cajuns, earned four top-20 performances in her inaugural season. Her best finish was a ninth-place performance at both the McNeese State Cowboy Stampede and the UALR Invitational. Hodges placed 10th overall at the Azalea City Classic and finished 18th overall at the Florida State Invitational covering the 5K course in a season-best 18:30.61.
