LAFAYETTE – Senior Kacey Elphage was named this week's Sun Belt Conference female track athlete of the week, the first league honor of the 2013 outdoor season for the Ragin' Cajuns track and field program.
Elphage was the top collegian in the women's 100 meter hurdles during the Louisiana Classics held last weekend at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility. She finished second overall in the event with a time of 13.54 seconds.
Her time was easily the best by a Sun Belt athlete in the event last weekend, the next closest time being 14.46 seconds. She presently holds the top time in the event on the SBC Outdoor performance list.
Elphage landed a personal best time, eclipsing the 13.59 seconds at last season's Louisiana Classics.
Elphage and her Ragin' Cajuns teammates are back in action this weekend traveling to Baton Rouge for the LSU Relays being held Friday-Saturday, March 22-23 at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the LSU campus.
