LAFAYETTE – Junior Ta'Shania Bean was named this week's Sun Belt Conference female field athlete of the week by the league office on Wednesday.

It's the second straight week a member of the Ragin' Cajuns track and field program received an honor from the league. Last week, redshirt senior Kacey Elphage was named SBC female track athlete of the week.

Bean took home the title in women's triple jump at the LSU Relays held last Saturday with a leap of 12.16m/39-10 ¾, which marked a personal best for the junior from New Orleans.

The McMain High product also shined in the women's long jump as she was one of only three competitors to reach a distance past 19 feet.

Bean finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.81m/19-0 ¾. That mark was her second personal best of the day eclipsing her previous long jump best of 5.71m/18-9 at last season Sun Belt Outdoor Championship.

Both performances have Bean ranked third on the 2013 Sun Belt Conference outdoor performance list.

Bean and her Ragin' Cajuns teammates are back in action this weekend traveling to Mobile, Ala., for the Jaguar Invitational being held Saturday, March 30 at Jaguar Track on the University of South Alabama campus. Field events begin at 10:15 a.m. and running events get underway at 11:30 a.m.
