Louisiana Closes Out Road Swing With Tuesday Match At Alcorn State

Ragin' Cajuns prepare for home opener on Friday
After opening the season last weekend with a second-place performance at the Marriott Houston Westchase Classic, the Louisiana volleyball team ventures back on the road on Tuesday when it faces Alcorn State in a 7 p.m. contest in Lorman, Miss.
Louisiana (2-1) claimed second-place in the four-team event defeating UT Pan American and Nebraska-Omaha while falling to eventual champion Houston Baptist.
The match against Alcorn State, which will be playing in its season opener, is the first of a home-and-home series between the schools in a five-day span as the Braves will be one of four teams competing in the inaugural Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic that begins Friday at Earl K. Long Gym.
Sara Mossakowski leads Louisiana at the net averaging 3.50 kills per set along with a .356 average at the net. Lavinia Tataran is next on offense for the Ragin' Cajuns averaging 3.40 kills per set followed by Kelly Wiesmann (1.90), Tonice White (1.70) and freshman Chanelle Gardner (1.20).
Andrea Hole paces the Ragin' Cajuns with 10.5 assists per set with Kristen Armstrong leading the team in service aces (4). Massakowski and Abby Filce have blocked a team-high four attempts for Louisiana while Caitlyn Auxilien leads the Ragin' Cajuns with 4.9 digs per set.
After facing Alcorn State, Louisiana will return to action on Friday when it opens the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic against Nicholls State at 7 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns will face Alcorn State at noon on Saturday before closing out the four-team tournament against Houston at 6 p.m.
