LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team will open the fall portion of their 2013-14 season on Sunday when they take on the USSSA Pride of the National Professional Fastpitch league at 2 p.m at Lamson Park.Â
Â
"To me there is no better experience or exposure for these kids than to come out and play the best team in the world," head coach Michael Lotief said. "It will do a couple things, it will give us a benchmark of where we are, and it will give us a standard of where we need to be to play at that level."
Â
It will be the Cajuns first of six home games on the fall schedule this year.
Â
"This is a fundraiser for the softball program," new development officer Stefni Lotief said. "We want to sell the place out so we can raise as much as possible for the softball program."Â
Â
Reserved grandstand seats are priced at $18 and general admission tickets in the outfield are $10.
Â
"It will be a good afternoon of softball," Michael Lotief said. "It will also give us an opportunity to raise some money for the program and do a lot of good things all in the course of one Sunday afternoon."

Â
"They keep including us on the schedule because of our great support from the fans and our community," Lotief added.  "This will be a good opportunity for our fan base to come out and meet the new kids, get a preview of what the 2014 season will be like. It also gives them the chance to watch the best players in the world."
