LAFAYETTE, La. – Head coach Greg Harkins announced the addition of freshman newcomer Alexandra Way to the 2014 Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis squad on Wednesday.

Way, a native of Adelaide, South Australia, comes to the program with a top juniors world ranking of 1790 and an AU Tennis ranking of 117. The captain of the South Australian Pizzey Cup Team in 2011, Way was also a member of the Australian Merrit Team in 2011 and was the captain of her high school team.

"We are pleased add Alexandra to the team this spring," Harkins said. "Her easy going personality has already endeared her to the other players on the squad, and we feel strongly that her background and upbringing shows promise as a future leader for the team.

"Alexandra comes from a well-coached program, and is a clean striker of the ball. I see her adding depth to both the singles and doubles lineup."

The women's team opens the spring dual match slate on Feb. 1 at Cajun Courts with Jackson State.
