LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns picked up five more wins on the final day of the Ragin' Cajuns Women's Fall Classic on Saturday at Cajun Courts.
Elena Sava took the consolation title in Flight 2 singles, getting by McNeese State's Julia Kral (6-2, 2-0, RET). Lauren Dupuis picked up the other singles win for the Cajuns on the day, knocking off Southeastern Louisiana's Natalie Duran (0-6, 7-5 (6)) in the consolation bracket of Flight 6.
Louisiana did the majority of its damage in doubles play with Alexandra Way and Abby Johnson getting by Bustamante/Raygadas of Southeastern Louisiana (8-5) to advance to the Flight 2 finals; however, there they fell to McNeese State's duo of Kral/Brett (8-7).
Way had also advanced to the finals of Flight 4 singles, but was forced to retire due to injury midway through her match against Nicholls' Katie Johnson.
Freshman Juliette Clement found some success in doubles play, stepping in to team with Lamar's Teodora Stefanovic to take the consolation side of the Flight 6 doubles bracket. Clement and Stefanovic advanced to the finals with a win over LSU-Alexandria's Arens/Antic (8-3) before knocking off Nicholls' Aubert/Charles (8-4) to take the flight title.
The Ragin' Cajuns will continue the fall slate next weekend when they head to Tuscalossa, Ala., for the ITA South Regionals.
