FOR STARTERS
• After an 85-57 win over Louisiana College in the season opener on Friday, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will take a step up in competition on Monday with its first road game of the season at Tulsa, an NCAA Tournament team from a year ago. The game will be the first of four as part of the MGM Grand Main Event, with a game at Auburn to follow on Friday before neutral-site games against Milwaukee and Oral Roberts in Las Vegas.
COVERAGE
• All Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball games are aired on KHXT 107.9 FM locally with 23-year play-by-play man Jay Walker on the call. Additionally, Monday's game will be aired live on ESPN3.com with Dave Raymond providing play-by-play and Bryndon Manzer on color commentary.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Ragin' Cajuns put 12 players in the scoring column and dominated the glass in the second half, picking up an 85-57 win over Louisiana College on Friday night at the Cajundome in the season opener for both teams.
Devonta Walker led the Cajuns with 20 points and seven rebounds, with the win serving as the fourth straight season-opening victory for UL and the second straight over the Wildcats. Louisiana dominated the Wildcats on the glass and off the bench on the night, out-rebounding LC 46-24, including 30-10 in the second half and holding a massive 38-5 edge in bench scoring.
The Wildcats hit just 39.6 percent from the floor and were held to just six points in the final 7:07 of game time as the Cajuns outscored them 22-6 in that span. The 57 points scored by LC was the lowest output by a Cajun opponent in a season opener since Southern Miss scored the same number in a 57-51 win to start the 1998-99 season.
UP NEXT
• Louisiana stays on the road when it heads to Auburn on Friday for its first meeting with the Tigers since 2000. It will be just the second time the Ragin' Cajuns have squared off with an SEC team under head coach Bob Marlin, having dropped a 76-63 decision at Arkansas a year ago. The game will be the second of four consecutive games away from the Cajundome for UL, all as part of the MGM Grand Main Event that will conclude the following week in Las Vegas against Milwaukee and Oral Roberts. UL will not be at home again until a December 3 meeting against Jackson State.
• Devonta Walker's 20 points in the season opener made him the first Ragin' Cajun to score 20 points in his UL debut since Tiras Wade scored 20 vs Louisiana Tech to open the 2004-05 season.
• The 57 points scored by Louisiana College on Friday is the lowest total by a Cajun opponent in a season opener since Southern Miss scored 57 in a 57-51 win to open the 1998-99 season.
• A win on Monday at Tulsa would give Louisiana a 2-0 start for the second straight season. The last time UL had 2-0 starts in consecutive seasons were the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons.
• Shawn Long needs four rebounds to reach 700 boards for his career.
• The Cajuns have had at least one 20-point scorer in 17 straight games.
• UL out-rebounded Louisiana College 30-10 in the second half of the season opener.
