FOR STARTERS
The Ragin' Cajuns will hit the floor for the public for the first time this season on Wednesday when they host Loyola-New Orleans in the season's exhibition opener. Admission is free and the game will serve as the team's only tune up before the official season opener on Nov. 14 vs Louisiana College at the Cajundome.
Louisiana trails the all-time series against the Wolfpack, 16-14, but has only faced Loyola twice in official games since 1958.

The last official game between the teams was an 89-57 win early in the 2003-04 season. The Ragin' Cajuns last saw the Wolfpack in an exhibition prior to the start of the 2012-13 season, winning 92-72 at the Cajundome.

NEXT WEEK
The Ragin' Cajuns open the season on Nov. 14 against Louisiana College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Cajundome.

QUICK HITS
- The Ragin' Cajuns return nine players from last year's team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament, including starters and preseason all-conference selections Shawn Long and Xavian Rimmer. Coach Bob Marlin also welcomes seven newcomers to the roster, including Oklahoma State transfer Brian Williams, originally from Glen Oaks HS in Baton Rouge. He played each of the last three seasons in Stillwater, going to the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons with the Cowboys.

Other newcomers include junior college transfers Devonta Walker, Jay Wright and Tiremone Williams, with all expected to see time this season. The Cajuns are also excited about their three-player freshman class of Johnathan Stove, Scott Plaisance and Bryce Washington. Stove and Plaisance claimed each of the last two LSWA Class 1A player of the year honors, while Washington averaged a double-double for his prep career.

- Louisiana basketball has a history of high scoring, averaging at least 80 points per game 10 times from 1971 to 1992; however, since then the Cajuns had scored better than 75 points per game just six times entering the 2013-14 campaign. But last year's Cajuns ramped up the offense, averaging 81.0 points per game and eclipsing the 100-point mark three times. That average was the highest by a Cajun team since the 1990-91 squad put up 91.1 points per game.

- The Ragin' Cajuns enter the season have scored 100 points in 126 games going into its 102nd season of basketball. Three of those came last season against South Alabama, Centenary and Louisiana College. In all, UL is 123-3 in games in which it has scored 100 points, while the three 100-point games was the most in a single season since the 2000-01 team had three as well.

- The team will welcome back Kasey Shepherd this season after his sophomore season was cut short due to a knee injury against Western Kentucky that caused him to miss the final 15 games of the season. Prior to his injury, Shepherd was averaging 8.2 points per game and shooting lights out with a .535 percentage from three-point range and a .939 percentage at the foul line. Both of those marks would top the Cajun record books, however, UL records require a minimum of 1.5 makes per game to qualify, with Shepherd's totals falling just shy of those minimums.

- The Ragin' Cajuns are ranked No. 21 in the nation in the preseason Mid Major Top 25, one of two Sun Belt teams (Georgia State) to show up in the poll. The Mid-Major Top 25 is published at CollegeInsider.com and is voted on by a panel of mid-major coaches around the country
