LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team and head coach Scot Wieland have announced the signing of 12 players to National Letters of Intent for the 2014 season.
Mikayla Ahlin, Hanna Alba, Courtney Angelini, Haley Boroch, Ashleigh Cade, Dani DeRosa, Madison Duncan, Denice Emokpae, Natalie Lebamoff, Jorgie Smith, Lindsey Stocks and Whitney Taggart have all signed letters of intent and will join the team in the summer to begin workouts for the fall 2014 season.
"This is an extremely talented group from all over the country," head coach Scot Wieland said. "These girls are brining in a wealth of soccer skill and soccer IQ. This class will compete for play time in all areas of the field and will add depth to our team. Outside of whoever earns starting positions next year, the girls coming in off the bench will be experienced and will add the best depth our team has ever had. There won't be much difference between starters and non-starters next year, practices will be extremely competitive which will only make our team more dangerous."
The 2014 spans the country, with five from California, two from Nevada, and one from each Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Texas and Washington.
Of the 12 signees, 11 of them are coming out of high school, with Lindsey Stocks the lone junior college transfer, coming from Mt. San Antonio Junior College, the same school as current Ragin' Cajuns defender Tina Sanchez.
