Men’s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight On Senior Day

LAFAYETTE, La. – The 66th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team notched its sixth straight victory on Senior Day defeating Texas-Pan American 6-1 on Sunday to close out the home slate at Cajun Courts.

The Cajuns improve to 16-4 on the season and finish the year with an 8-1 record at home. The 16 wins are tied for the most in a season by head coach Mark Jeffrey in his tenure at Louisiana since his inaugural season with the Ragin' Cajuns in 2008-09.

Despite dropping the decision on court three, the Cajuns picked up the doubles point winning on courts one and two. Damian Farinola and Edgar Lopez secured the point defeating Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi 8-6 at the No. 1 position.

Lopez followed up his doubles win with a quick straight sets win over Panditi on court two in singles, 6-2, 6-2, to make the score 2-0.

Senior Carl Alberton moved to 7-0 on the spring with his 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 position to pull Louisiana within a point away from clinching the match.

After a win on court one by the Broncs (3-15), freshman Will Huyton sealed the win topping Joseph Bishop on court six, 6-3, 6-4.

Elliot Minvielle and Farinola recorded the final two points of the contest for Louisiana winning at lines four and three.

The Cajuns close out the season with a three-match road swing starting on Saturday, April 6 at Tulane in a 1 p.m. contest.
