Cajuns Add Jay Wright To 2014-15 Roster

Georgia native named North Conference Player of the Year in lone JUCO season
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head men's basketball coach Bob Marlin announced on Wednesday the addition of junior college product Jay Wright to the 2014-15 roster.
Wright, a 6-foot-1 point guard, will have three years of eligibility remaining after competing as a freshman at Casper (Wyo.) College. Wright is the fifth signee for the defending Sun Belt Conference champions joining early signees Scott Plaisance (New Orleans, La.), Jonathan Stove (Baton Rouge, La.) and Bryce Washington (New Orleans, La.), along with junior college product Devonta Walker (Salisbury, Md.).
In his lone season at CC, Wright was named the North Conference Player of the Year after averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals. Wright appeared in 32 games for the Thunderbirds with 30 starts and scored in double figures in 26 games, including 11 games with 20 or more points.
"Jay is a quality person who gives us an experienced point guard in the backcourt," Marlin said. "He is athletic, a good defender, and has the ability to get in the paint on the offensive side of the ball. He also has three years to play and we are excited to have him on our team. Like our other signees he is all about winning."
Wright averaged 12 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals his senior season at Effingham Country (Ga.) High, helping lead the Rebels to the Class AAAAA Final Four. He was selected to the All-Region 3-AAAAA first team and the Savannah Morning News' 2013 All-Greater Savannah second team.
