Cajuns Baseball Ends 2014 Ranked No. 7 in the Nation

LAFAYETTE, La. – After wrapping up a the winningest season in school history with a 58-10 overall record, Ragin' Cajuns baseball finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the nation in all five national college baseball polls.

The Cajuns finished the season ranked No. 7 by Baseball America, eighth in the USA Today Coaches poll and ninth in both the Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA rankings. The Ragin' Cajuns also were tabbed sixth in the Perfect Game poll.

The rankings mark the second time in program history that Louisiana finished the season ranked in the top 10 nationally after ending the 2000 season ranked fourth by Collegiate Baseball and sixth in the USA Today Coaches poll.

The squad became the first team in any sport at Louisiana to earn a No. 1 national ranking on March 24 earning top billing in the Collegiate Baseball poll. The Ragin' Cajuns took that a step further as they were tabbed the unanimous No.1 team heading into the NCAA Tournament.

Louisiana wrapped up one of the best seasons to date in program history capturing both the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles en route to posting the most wins in the nation and setting records for most wins in both school and conference history. The Cajuns received its first ever national seed in the NCAA Tournament and battled its way through the losers bracket of the Lafayette to advance to the Lafayette Super Regional, where they fell one win short of Omaha.
