15 Home Matches Highlight Volleyball Schedule

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team and seventh-year head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot will open up the 2014 season on August 29 in Houston, a season that will include 15 home matches at Earl K. Long Gym.
The 32-game slate begins with 10 consecutive non-conference matches in the season's first three weeks before the Cajuns dive into Sun Belt Conference play on Sept. 17 at home against South Alabama.
Louisiana will kick off the season on August 29 against Fresno State at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston as part of the Adidas Rice Invitational. The Cajuns will also be joined by Rice and UC-Davis to complete the tournament field.
The Cajuns will then host the Sawyer Camillo Classic on Sept. 5-6 at Earl K. Long Gym, where they will be joined by Southern, Northwestern State and Nicholls. The squad's home tournament honors the late Sawyer Camillo who passed away at her home during the 2012 offseason.
Pre-conference play will come to an end when the Cajuns return to Houston for a weekend at the Flo Hyman Classic at the University of Houston on Sept. 12-13 where they will battle Sam Houston State, Oral Roberts and Houston.
They will get their first look at SBC newcomers Appalachian State and Georgia Southern when the Mountaineers and Eagles come to Lafayette on Sept. 26 and 27 as part of a three-game homestand that includes an Oct. 2 date with Georgia State.
A non-conference trip to Baylor on Oct. 14 opens up a season-long, four-game road swing that ends with a home match against Abilene Christian on Oct. 27.
Other matches of interest include a Halloween home match against Texas State, followed by the first of two SBC meetings with Arkansas State to open up the month of November on Nov. 2 at home.
The Cajuns will also play two matches vs in-state rival ULM, beginning Oct. 8 in Monroe, and in the season finale on Nov. 23 at Earl K. Long Gym in a match that will be the final home match for the Cajuns' four-member senior class.
The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be held Nov. 27-29 at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos, Texas.
