Memphis Intercollegiate Leaderboard

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team carded a 36-hole score of 13-over par (589) on Monday to finish the first day of the Memphis Intercollegiate in eighth place. The three- round tournament is being hosted at Colonial Country Club.

"I am a little shocked and disappointed with the way we were mentally today," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We had a solid game plan and did not stick to it. Today is behind us, and we have a great opportunity to see what we are made of tomorrow. We are a solid team, and solid teams bounce back. I have the utmost confidence in this group. We need to apply today's disappointing lesson with the opportunity of moving up a tight leaderboard tomorrow."

After posting a score of 8-over (296) in the morning round, the Cajuns finished the second round three strokes better with a score of 5-over (293).

Host Memphis sits in first with the only sub-par score at 1-under (575). Louisiana Tech (E, 576), Mississippi State (+1, 577), Arkansas State (+9, 585) and Southern Miss (+9, 585) round out the top 5 teams.

Ben Wood and Fletcher Johnson of Mississippi State along with Victor Lange of Louisiana Tech are in a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard at 4-under par (140). Lange had the low round of the day carding a 68 (-4) in the first round.

Both Haraldur Magnus and Louis Kelly find themselves in the top 25 after two rounds. Magnus leads the way for Louisiana in a tie for 13th at 1-over (145), while Kelly is one stroke back in a tie for 18th at 2-over (146).

Thomas Strandemo finished the day in a tie for 47th with a 36-hole score of 7-over (151). Fernando Cruz Valle and Ross Davis closed out the scoring for the Cajuns with Cruz Valle in a tie for 58th at 10-over (154) and Davis in a tie for 62nd at 11-over (155).

The final round is slated to begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow with action starting off of holes one and 10. The Ragin' Cajuns are scheduled to tee off starting at 9:40 a.m. and are paired with Belmont and UALR for the final round.
