Bjuro, Robinson added to roster; all will take part in spring practice
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head football coach Mark Hudspeth announced on Thursday the addition of four mid-year signees for the 2015 season.
Signing with the Ragin' Cajuns are quarterback Dion Ray (New Orleans, La./Helen Cox HS), running back Walter Williams (Vancleave, Miss./Vancleave HS), defensive back Kamar Greenhouse (Marksville, La./Marksville HS) and punter Steven Coutts (Brisbane, Australia/University of Queensland).
The signing of the four early high school signees increased Louisiana's mid-year class to five. The Ragin' Cajuns announced last week the addition of junior college defensive back Christian Goodlett (Lawrenceville, Ga./Hutchinson CC).
Hudspeth also added that offensive lineman Ian Bjuro (Spanish Fort, Ala./Nassau CC) and receiver Brennen Robinson (Franklin, La./Franklin HS) have enrolled in school and will participate in spring practice.
"We're really excited about the early enrollees that have joined our team for the spring semester," Hudspeth said. "All four of them are outstanding players and outstanding young men. We're excited that they will have the opportunity to go through spring practice, off-season conditioning and have the opportunity to be able to compete this spring.
"I'm really pleased with our coaching staff that did a great job in identifying these players and getting them here to campus, and I'm excited to be able to get to work with them soon."
Ray, a 6-foot, 200-pound product, was a four-time all-district selection who threw for 1,538 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior at Helen Cox while rushing for 654 yards and 13 scores. In 2012 season, Ray tossed for 1,385 yards and nine scores while gaining 525 yards and five TDs on the ground.
Williams, a 6-foot, 211-pounder, was named to the District 8-4A All-MVP team as a senior. Williams ran for a school-record 1,680 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, leading the Bulldogs to the second round of the Class 4A South State playoffs.
Greenhouse, a 6-1, 175-pound product, rushed for 413 yards and seven touchdowns, caught 13 passes with four TDs and recorded 24 tackles with an interception as a senior at Marksville High School. The three-year starter was an honorable mention Class 3A All-State selection as a senior.
Coutts, a 6-4, 200-pound product, is the second Australian to sign with the Ragin' Cajuns after following in the footsteps of predecessor of departed punter Daniel Cadona. Coutts, who will have four years of eligibility, played Australian Rules Football and Rugby while attending Citipointe Christian College.
