No. 10 Bears Take Down No. 73 Cajuns

WACO, Texas – The No. 73 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns dropped a 7-0 match on Thursday at No. 10 Baylor.
 
The Bears (3-1) are the third consecutive nationally-ranked opponent for the Cajuns (2-5) and fourth in its first seven matches.
 
Baylor staked itself to an early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Max Tchoutakian and Juan Benitez picked up the first win of the day in the No. 3 spot, picking up a 6-2 victory over Jake Wynan and Vlad Kramarov. The Bears top doubles pair secured the doubles point when Diego Galeano and Mate Zsiga got by Edgar Lopez and Damian Farinola, also by a 6-2 score.
 
In singles play Vince Schneider scored the second Baylor point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kramarov in No. 5 play, just in front of Galeano's 6-2, 6-0 win over Jarred Wynan at the No. 3 spot.
 
Felipe Rios, the nation's No. 121 player, put the Bears clinched a Baylor win with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rok Sitar at No. 6 singles, while Tchoutakain finished off Lopez by a 6-0, 6-3 margin at No. 2 singles.
 
Farinola also fell to Zsiga in the No. 4 slot, 6-0, 6-3 while Jake Wynan dropped his first match of the season in the top singles spot to Tony Lupieri, ranked No. 26 nationally, by a 6-4, 6-3 score.
 
The Cajuns next return to action on Feb. 6 at home when it hosts Georgia State and Jackson State. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. at Cajun Courts.
