Cajuns Set To Compete At McNeese Cowboy Invitational

Davis ranked in top-15 nationally in the long jump
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team will return to action on Friday when it travels to Lake Charles to compete in the Cameron Communications McNeese Cowboy Invitational at the McNeese Recreation Complex.
Action begins with field events starting at 1 p.m. with running events slated to begin at 2:45. Live results will be available on RaginCajuns.com.
Competing in its fourth meet of the indoor season, Louisiana will join host McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, and Dillard along with select athletes from ULM and various track clubs.
Senior Devin Davis returns to action in the long jump after posting the best mark in the Sun Belt Conference (24-7 ¾) and 14th-best mark in the nation at the Texas A&M 13-Team Invitational. Ricky Theyard (48-11 ¾) ranks second in the Sun Belt in the triple jump with Matt Wilson (15-7 ¼) ranked third in the pole vault, Kenneth Nassar fourth in the shot put (54-8 ¼) and Sean Bezdek fifth in the 5,000-meters (15:31.05).
On the women's side, Meredith Driskell is fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in the pole vault (12-2) with Stacy Imagbe ranked sixth in the 200-meters (25.12) and seventh in the 60-meters (7.71). Ashley Irwin enters the meet ranked eighth in the 3,000-meters (10:16.97), Tia Mitchell is ninth in the long jump (18-2 ½), Amanda Gale ninth in the pole vault (11-8), Emily Gale ninth in the pole vault (11-8) and Jana Jones ranked ninth in both the shot put (44-10 ¼) and weight throw (54-6 ½).
