Men's Tennis Adds Stavropoulos To Roster

LAFAYETTE, La. – Men's tennis head coach Mark Jeffrey recently announced the addition of Dimitris Stavropoulos to the Spring 2015 roster for the defending Sun Belt champion Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
Stavropoulos will join the Cajuns with a standout prep resume. One of the top players in Greece, he held a No. 307 ITF ranking in the Jan. 5, 2015 rankings, despite not playing in a tournament since September.
He was the No. 1 ranked player in the BU16 Greek Tennis Federation Ranking in 2012, joining the junior Davis Cup Team's Summer and Winter Europe Cups BU16 squad.
Stavropoulos found himself ranked No. 49 in the BU16 Tennis Europe Ranking in 2013 and won the ITF G5 Greece Corfu Cup in the same year. A standout on both the singles and doubles circuit, he reached as far as the semifinals in doubles in the ITF G4 Egypt 2014 Cairo event, the ITF G4 Ukraine 2014 event and as was a men's Greek national championship quarterfinalist in singles play.
The Ragin' Cajuns, ranked No. 66 in the country to open the spring season, will kick off the 2015 season on Saturday at the Florida State Invitational. The Cajuns will open up with No. 72 North Florida at 10:30 a.m. CT, followed by a match against the winner/loser of Furman and Denver later in the day at 4:30 p.m.
