LAFAYETTE – After gaining a conference road split last weekend against Georgia Southern and Georgia State, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team (7-4-1, 1-1 SBC) returns home to host South Alabama and Troy this Friday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 4, respectively.
The Cajuns have played well on their home pitch this season, winning three of four matches, including a 5-0 shutout win against Grambling State in the last outing back on Sept. 18.
Junior forward Annika Schmidt leads Louisiana's offense in goals (6) and points (14) to go along with two assists. Junior midfielder Kimberly Grasso has scored three times while junior forward Yazmin Montoya's four assists ranks first among Cajuns this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Cosette Morche is first among Sun Belt Conference keepers in saves with 56.
The Louisiana defense has pitched five shutouts this season, the most since the 2013 campaign when they blanked their opponents six times.
Friday night's match against South Alabama is Youth Soccer Night. Every youth soccer player (ages 12 and under) in uniform will be admitted in for free. Sunday afternoon against Troy is Ice Cream Sunday. Fans with a voucher will receive free ice cream at the match.
Cajun Notes
* Freshman goalkeeper Cosette Morche returned to the pitch last week, making two starts (1-1) and saving 17 shots. She blanked Georgia Southern last Friday night, her third shutout this season and fifth overall for the Cajuns. Her three shutouts are tied for seventh all-time in a single season in Cajuns history. Morche stands one shy of moving into a third-place tie with Amanda Moorefield, Kristen Malen and Leslie Beckman for most shutouts in a season. Morche is currently tied for third in the Sun Belt Conference in shutouts (3).
* Sophomore forward Ashleigh Cade has been an offensive spark plug for the team this season. She enters the week with two goals and three assists for seven points in 2015. Her three assists match her career high from last season.
* Junior forward Yazmin Montoya sits in sole possession of second place in points (51) and assists (11) in Ragin' Cajuns history. She needs two points and two assists to pass Courtney Hofland as the program's all-time leader in both categories, and two scores to pass Kelli Jestes as the all-time leader in goals.
* Louisiana goalkeepers have combined for the most saves (81) among Sun Belt Conference schools this season (Arkansas State is second with 71).
* The Cajuns are 2-3 in their past five Sun Belt Conference openers at home. South Alabama provides the opposition for the first time since the 2010 season.
Scouting the South Alabama Jaguars
* The Jaguar offense features two players (sophomore forward Ashlynn Jones – 11 ; sophomore forward Charde Hanna – 10) with double-digit points. Jones also has five goals while Hannah owns four. The Jaguars offense can receive scoring from number of spots with six players owning multiple goals.
* South Alabama has outscored its opponents 23-9 this season, including 12-4 in the first half.
* Freshman defender/forward Jemma Purfield enters this week tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference with five assists.

Fan Information
Gates at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer Complex open an hour before kickoff (6 p.m. Friday, noon Sunday). Students are admitted for free with their Cajun Card. Tickets are $5 for adults and children ages 2 and over, while children under the age of 2 are admitted for free. Tickets are $3 for those accompanying a student with his or her Cajun Card.
