LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team is set to begin its 2015 fall schedule on Saturday, Oct. 17 traveling to Eunice for a doubleheader at Lady Bengal Softball Field on the LSU-Eunice campus.
The Ragin' Cajuns open play on Saturday at 12 p.m., against LSU-Alexandria. In the second-half of the doubleheader, the squad takes on LSU-Eunice at 2 p.m.
The games, the first of five exhibitions against outside competition this fall, are part of the Experience Louisiana Festival hosted by LSU-Eunice.
Saturday's games are the lone road contests for the Ragin' Cajuns during the fall 2015 slate.
The remainder of the fall exhibitions will be played at Lamson Park: Galveston College (Oct. 23 – 3 p.m.), LSU-Eunice (Oct. 28 – 6 p.m.), Lamar (Nov. 5 – 6 p.m.) and Alumni game (Nov. 7 – TBA).
Head coach Michael Lotief welcomes back 28 players – including eight of the nine hitters in the starting lineup – from last season's Sun Belt Conference championship squad, which advanced to the program's fourth straight NCAA Super Regional. Seven freshmen were added to the roster in August and associate head coach Chris Malveaux and assistant coach Lana Bowers rejoined the coaching staff in July.
