Cajuns Finish Weekend at ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team finished their third tournament of the fall season at the ITA Southern Regional on the campus of Auburn University this past weekend.
Sophomore Kelly Drew battled Nicholls State's Stephanie Barnett in three sets, falling, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the Singles A bracket.
In the Singles B bracket, fellow sophomore Abby Johnson advanced to the second round via withdrawal by Tulane's Sade Atkinson, but came up short against Yuchia Chen of Louisiana Tech, 6-4, 6-3.
"We had our chances this weekend," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Stephanie Vallejos said. "Kelly [Drew] played well going against a tough seed in the first round [against Nicholls State's Stephanie Barnett]. We got experience and we will take that experience into the spring against all of our opponents.
"We are definitely stronger than a couple of weeks ago. We definitely have improved, and I am looking to being stronger this upcoming weekend."
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will conclude their 2015 fall schedule this Saturday, Oct. 24 at the UNO Invitational in New Orleans.
