LAFAYETTE -- Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis junior Coleman Wahlborg defeated teammate Vlad Kramarov to take the Flight 3 Singles championship Tuesday afternoon in Lafayette to close out the Big Easy Tennis Classic.
Wahlborg, a native of Baton Rouge, La., took the match, 6-3, 6-0, adding to the pile of Cajuns' victories from this past weekend. With Wahlborg's victory today, the Cajuns won 16 of 19 matches and claimed three flights from the event.
"Coleman has come leaps and bounds this semester," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "It's not over yet - I look for Coleman to compete well in the upcoming professional tournaments this November in Pensacola.
"Coleman is one of the leaders of our team. He really steps up and gives everything to his coaches and teammates. I am a really big fan of his for approaching the game this way. He is a very selfless player and it's good to see the game reward him for this. I also want to congratulate Vlad for making the final as he is starting to play better tennis as the fall season has progressed."
The men's tennis team is in action next at the UTSA 10,000 Futures in Niceville, Florida from November 5-12.
