LAFAYETTE, La. – Fans headed to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football homecoming contest against ULM on Saturday, October 31 at 4 p.m. will have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the festivities going on before and during the game.
"Trick-or-Treat Tailgate…Cajun Style," will take place in the tailgating and RV spots surrounding Cajun Field from 1-3 p.m. All kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and trick or treat at each of the tailgate and RV spots surrounding Cajun Field. All fans with tailgate and RV spots are encouraged to have candy available for all trick-or-treaters.
Fans are allowed to bring the candy they receive from tailgating into Cajun Field.
Several kids in costume will be selected to come onto the field during a timeout and receive prizes courtesy of Ragin' Cajuns Athletics.
Tailgaters and RV spot holders will also be recognized, as the best-decorated area will be the "Albertson's Tailgate of the Game" and will be featured on the video board.
Other festivities include the 2015 Homecoming parade, which will start at 10 a.m. at Blackham Coliseum and proceed down Johnston Street till West St Mary Blvd where it will take a right turn end at the Alumni House on campus.
Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball legend and new inductee into the UL Athletic Hall of Fame Ron Guidry will be on hand for the game this weekend. Guidry will sign autographs at the Alumni Hospitality Tailgating Tent located next to Gate A at Cajun Field starting at 2:30 p.m.
A new Cajun Walk siren, courtesy of the Sam Landers family, will be used starting this weekend to signal fans tailgating at Cajun Field that the team will arrive shortly. The siren will be activated once the Cajuns depart from the team hotel. Fans are encouraged to gather along Reinhardt Drive, beginning at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility for the Cajun Walk at that time.
Fans also have the opportunity to drive home in a brand new Ragin' Cajuns golf cart that will be raffled off by the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Celebration during the ULM contest.
Finally the 2005 Sun Belt Championship football team will be on hand for the game and will be honored on the field during the first half.
