LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team has signed Aron Juliusson and Jack Tolson to a national letter of intent for the 2016-17 season, head coach Theo Sliman announced on Tuesday.

"I am very excited to announce the signing of the 2016 class," Sliman said. "We are bringing in two stellar student-athletes who are the epitome of what this program is all about. Both of these young men have dominated in the classroom and shown consistency on the links."

Juliusson comes to the Cajuns from Gardabaer, Iceland and is the third Icelandic player to join program under Sliman and the ninth all-time. A member of the 2015 Iceland men's national team, Juliusson spent two years on the Iceland national junior team from 2013-14.

In 2014, Juliusson was named the GKG Junior Player of the Year. He has claimed four tournament championships in the last two years posting 27 rounds of par or better and six rounds in the 60s including a career-best 67. This year, Juliusson is averaging a score of 72.5 through 23 rounds with five top 10 finishes.

"Our university and golf program has had a long standing tradition with players from Iceland," Sliman noted. "I am extremely proud to continue that tradition with signing of Aron Juliusson. His international experience will only elevate the depth of this program."

Tolson joins the Ragin' Cajuns from Westminster Christian where he has claimed back-to-back Division IV State individual titles. In 2015, Tolston posted scores of 64 and 69 at the state tournament to win his second title in as many years. A native of Lafayette, La., Tolson carded rounds of 77 and 71 to claim his first ever championship in 2014.

In the last year, Tolson has tallied 10 rounds of par of better and while also finishing sixth at the AJGA Preseason Junior tournament.

"It's great to add another Louisiana native to our roster," Sliman said. "Jack is an exceptional student and athlete that had shown the ability to post low numbers. He has the tools to compete at a very high level, which will certainly be an asset in team golf and will add to the depth of this squad.

"It's been an absolute pleasure an honor to recruit both of these young men. I am very proud to be a part of their college careers over the next four years."
