Cajuns Host Lamar in Fall Contest Thursday at Lamson

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team plays its final exhibition against outside competition for the 2015 fall season on Thursday, Nov. 5 hosting Lamar at Lamson Park beginning at 6 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Items will be collected at the main entrance of Lamson Park.
Â
Admission to the event is free and concessions will be sold. Parking is available in the Lamson Park and Bourgeois Hall parking lots.

Ben Boone, a UL graduate and former American Idol contestant, will perform the national anthem.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns, taking in their fifth exhibition game of the fall season, were last in action on Oct. 28 against LSU-Eunice.

Following Thursday's contest, the Ragin' Cajuns are scheduled to wrap up their fall slate with an alumni game on Saturday, Nov. 7 that is set to begin at 1 p.m.

Head coach Michael Lotief welcomed back 28 players – including eight of the nine hitters in the starting lineup – from last season's Sun Belt Conference championship squad, which advanced to the program's fourth straight NCAA Super Regional. Seven freshmen were added to the roster in August.

The Ragin' Cajuns have scheduled 16 playing dates at Lamson Park which includes two tournaments, the Louisiana Classics (Feb. 19-21) and Ragin' Cajuns Invitational (Feb. 26-28).
