Women’s Tennis Announces 2016 Schedule

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis program released its 2016 schedule Thursday afternoon.
The spring schedule features nine home matches and nine contests away from Cajun Courts.
The Cajuns, who bring back seven returners from last year's squad, will open the season with four straight matches on the road from January 23-February 6. The Cajuns begin with an 11 a.m. match at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio on Jan. 23 followed by a 9 a.m. contest at Prairie View A&M the following day on Jan. 24. The second half of the four-match road trip takes them to McNeese State on Jan. 27 and Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 6.
The Cajuns make their home debut against Jackson State on Feb. 7 for an 11:30 a.m. start, the first of four matches at Cajun Courts. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Southern Miss and Alcorn State visit the Cajuns from Feb. 17-21.
The team closes out the month of February on the road with matchups at Louisiana Tech on Feb. 23 and at Mississippi State on Feb. 27.
Non-conference action concludes with a pair of home matches against Grambling on March 6 and Western Kentucky on March 8 and a road match at Nicholls State on March 19.
The Cajuns open Sun Belt Conference play at home on March 25 and 27 against UT Arlington and ULM, respectively.
The road conference schedule consists of a trip to San Marcos, Texas where Texas State and Arkansas State await on April 8 and 9, respectively. The regular season comes to a close on April 13 at home against LSU-Alexandria.
"The work ethic they have shown through the fall has been great," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Stephanie Vallejos said. "Our team atmosphere is all positive right now and I look forward to bringing that into the spring.
"I'm confident they will give everything they have to create a strong semester of competition."
