SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team carded a score of 19-over par (303) to drop three spots on the final day of competition Tuesday to finish in 13th place with an overall score of 48-over (895) at the Oak Hills Invitational hosted at the par 71, 6.765-yard Oak Hills Country Club.

"I'm pretty frustrated and embarrassed by the performance of the team today," head coach Theo Sliman said. "That is not what I was expecting from this team in the first spring event. I thought we were prepared, but apparently we were not. It's a long season and we still have a lot of events ahead of us. We are not going to dwell on this performance. We need to get back to work and continue to learn and apply. I have a lot of confidence in this group, and we still have all of our goals in front of us. We just need to bear down and get to work."

No. 5 Baylor went on to claim the team title with a score of 2-under (850) after carding a round of 6-under (278) on the final day of competition. Host UTSA (+14, 866), No. 20 Oklahoma (+19, 871), North Texas (+24, 876), Wichita State (+25, 877) and Houston Baptist (+25, 877) round out the top 5 teams.

Kyle Jones of Baylor won individual medalist honors recording a round of 4-under (67) to finish at 8-under (205).

Sophomore Fernando Cruz Valle notched his fifth career top 10 finish and first of the year with an overall score of 3-over (216) to finish in a tie for tenth.

Christian Verrougstraete placed in a tie for 50th at 13-over (226), while Haraldur Magnus finished one stroke back in a tie for 56th. Louis Kelly had a 54-hole score of 15-over (228) to place in a tie for 56th and Ross Davis capped the scoring for the Ragin' Cajuns in a tie for 74th at 22-over (235).

Louisiana returns to action Feb. 20-22 at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship in Humble, Texas the Golf Club of Houston.
