TROY, Ala. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team will wrap up a two-game roadtrip today when it faces Sun Belt Conference rival Troy in a 2 p.m. contest at Trojan Arena.

Last Time Out
- Jaylyn Gordon scored a career-high 29 points, including a career-best seven 3-pointers, and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team survived a second-half scoring drought and defeated ULM in double overtime, 68-65, in a Sun Belt Conference game on Thursday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
- Keke Veal scored 19 points and Kia Wilridge added 10 as Louisiana (16-7, 8-6 Sun Belt) forced a season-high 31 turnovers while draining a season-high eight 3-pointers against ULM (10-13, 6-8 Sun Belt) for the second time this season.
- Louisiana trailed, 61-57, in the second overtime session after a layup by ULM's Daja Chase before Gordon responded with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 63-61 lead with 2:44 remaining. After a Sharnice Brooks layup on the Warhawks' ensuing possession that tied the game, Veal was fouled and sank two free throws with 1:33 remaining that gave the Ragin' Cajuns the lead for good.
- Veal, who went 6-for-9 from the free throw line and dished out a game-high five assists, added another free throw with 40 seconds left for a 66-63 lead before Gordon helped seal the win with a pair of free throws with 24 seconds remaining.
- Gordon, who recorded her seventh 20-point game this season, finished 8-of-19 from the floor and 7-for-13 from behind the 3-point line. The sophomore finished 6-for-6 from the free throw line and added three steals in a career-high tying 45 minutes of action.

A Look at Troy
Troy (14-9, 9-5) is coming off of a 78-67 win over South Alabama on Thursday.  The Trojans led by as many as 23 points with just 5:40 to go, but the Jaguars closed on a 14-2 run.  Troy picked up 20 steals as it forced South Alabama into 31 turnovers and scored 37 points off of them.
- Troy is now forcing an average of 23.2 turnovers per game and grabbing 12.3 steals per game, marks that both lead the Sun Belt and both rank fourth in the NCAA.
- Troy has scored 75-plus points in eight of its last 11 games, upping its scoring average to a Sun Belt best 76.5 points per game (20th in NCAA).  Troy also leads the league in assists (14.9 apg) and rebounds (42.3 rpg).
- Troy currently sits in a tie for third place in the Sun Belt with a 9-5 conference record.  With six Sun Belt games still the play, Troy is just one win away from tying the program record of 10 Sun Belt wins (2008-09).
- Ashley Beverly-Kelley led Troy with 19 points against South Alabama.  The junior now ranks third in the Sun Belt in scoring (16.4), ninth in assists (2.9) and second in steals (2.6), making her the only Sun Belt player in the top 10 of all three categories.
- Ronita Garrett has 15 double-doubles on the season, ranking first in the Sun Belt and 10th in the NCAA.  She is second in the league in rebounding (10.5 rpg) and fifth in scoring (15.5 ppg).

Series History
- Today's game will be the 16th meeting between the schools on the hardwood with Troy holding an 8-7 lead.
- The Trojans are 6-1 overall in the series in Troy with the Ragin' Cajuns lone win coming in the first-ever meeting between the schools (81-69) on Jan. 14, 2006.
- In the previous meeting between the schools, Troy claimed a 60-55 victory at the Cajundome on Jan. 3 for its first win in Lafayette since a 93-52 victory on Feb. 25, 2009.

Up Next
- Louisiana will play a pair of league games against the Sun Belt schools from the Lone Star State beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Texas State at the Cajundome.
- The Ragin' Cajuns will then make the quick turnaround and travel to the Metroplex to face UT Arlington in a 5 p.m. contest at College Park Center.

Stifling Defense
- As a team, the Cajuns defense has caused many problems for opponents this season, limiting teams to 59.0 points per game for 68th in the nation
- The Cajuns have forced opponents to 20-plus turnovers on 15 different occasions as teams are forcing 20.8 turnovers per game this season. In 20 of 22 games, a team has committed at least 15 turnovers with Louisiana Tech (14) and UT Arlington (10) being the only exceptions.
- Louisiana ranks seventh nationally in turnover margin with teams recording 6.9 more turnovers per game than the Cajuns
- Louisiana is 49th in the country in steals per game, averaging 10.3 on the season  
- Junior guard Kia Wilridge's tenacious defense this season has her ranked among the best in the country
- Wilridge has totaled 59 steals on the season for an average of 2.7 per game for first in the Sun Belt Conference and 32nd in the country

Louisiana Among Sun Belt Schools
- Defense is what has stood out this season for the Cajuns, and their numbers have placed them near the top in the Sun Belt in several categories
- Among Sun Belt schools, Louisiana ranks first in turnover margin (+6.9), second in steals (10.3) and opponent turnovers per game (20.8), and third in scoring defense (59.0)
- In league play, the Cajuns lead the conference in turnover margin (+7.7), and are second in both opponent turnovers per game (20.8) and steals per game (10.1).The have held teams to 61.4 points per game to rank third behind UALR (45.8) and UT Arlington (58.2).

Guards in the Sun Belt Rankings
- Guards Jaylyn Gordon, Keke Veal and Kia Wilridge are making several appearances in the SBC top-10 individual rankings
- Gordon comes in fourth in three-pointers per game (2.2), fifth in free-throw percentage (80.2%), seventh in minutes played (32.5), eighth in scoring (13.8 ppg) and ninth in steals (2.0 spg).
- Veal ranks seventh with 2.1 steals per game but is third overall in SBC play with 2.5 per game. She is seventh in the SBC with 3.3 assists per game and eighth with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio
- Wilridge appears four times in the SBC rankings, coming in first in steals (2.7 spg), ninth in minutes (31.5 mpg), 10th in assists (2.6 apg) and 12th in scoring (12.6 ppg)

Cajuns Climbing the Record Books
- As the season progresses, several Cajuns are ranked in or nearing the top 10 in the career record books
- Robbie Brown is with DeLesha Qualls (1998-02) and Brooke Williams (1999-03) for eighth place in school history with 111 games played.
- Kia Wilridge is 11th in school history in steals (152) and is ninth in assists (206).
- Keke Veal is ranked 10th in school history in steals (153).
- Jaylyn Gordon is the final Cajun that ranked in the career top 10 list as her 84 made 3-pointers are the 10th-best total in school history.

Nine-Game Start
- With an 8-1 non-conference record this season, the Cajuns matched their best nine-game start in program history
- After dropping their season opener to SMU in the 2005-06 season, the Cajuns reeled off eight-straight wins under former head coach J. Kelley Hall to also start the season 8-1

Cajuns Record Historic Win
- In 39 meetings, the Ragin' Cajuns had always come up short in knocking off Louisiana Tech, one of the nation's most decorated women's college basketball programs
- However, the 40th meeting on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 was one exception
- The Cajuns led from the beginning as they claimed a 58-55 victory over the Lady Techsters to snap their 39-game losing streak to Louisiana Tech
- Kia Wilridge led all scorers with 18 points and a team-high five assists while Jaylyn Gordon added 15 points, shooting 3-of-6 from long range, and six boards to help Louisiana to a historic win
- The Cajuns dominated the paint, outscoring the Lady Techsters 30-16 down low. Louisiana Tech earned nearly half of its points from the outside, shooting 8-of-25 from behind the arc
