Cajuns Continue Climb Inside Nation's Top 10

LAFAYETTE – With another undefeated tournament run, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team rose higher in the national polls a second straight week.
 
Louisiana (9-0) advanced to No. 6 in both the USA Today/NFCA (previously No. 7) and ESPN.com/USA Softball (previously No. 8) Top 25 polls.

The Ragin' Cajuns have been ranked in the Top 10 since the preseason rankings, debuting at No. 9 in both polls.
 
Michael Lotief's squad continued its undefeated start to the 2015 campaign with a 5-0 showing in the Mardi Gras Classic at Lamson Park. Jordan Wallace came within eight outs of no-hit softball while striking out 30 in 16 innings of work and the offense produced 11 more home runs in wins over Idaho State and Mississippi Valley State.
 
Future ranked opponents for Louisiana include: No. 2/2 Oregon (April 24-25), No. 3/5 Alabama (Feb. 27-Mar. 1), No. 7/11 Baylor (April 10-11) and No. 22/23 South Alabama (March 7-8).
 
No. 6 Louisiana returns to action, and closes out a 14-game homestand, hosting the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational Friday-Sunday, Feb. 20-22 at Lamson Park. A matchup with Iowa at 2:30 p.m., on Friday kicks off the weekend for Louisiana. Remaining tournament games feature contests with Hofstra (Feb. 20/21), Missouri State (Feb. 21) and McNeese State (Feb. 22).
