LAFAYETTE, La. – After a two-week respite, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team returns to action on Friday for a pair of home matches at Cajun Courts against New Orleans and Jackson State.
Head coach Mark Jeffrey's bunch are most-recently coming off wins over Georgia State and Xavier (La.) at home on Feb. 6, and can run their winning streak to four before another testy road trip on Feb. 28 and March 1 at Iowa and nationally-ranked Drake.
Overall, the Cajuns stand at 4-5 on the young season and are still led in the wins column by freshman Vlad Kramarov's five victories, followed by Damian Farinola and Will Huyton with three apiece.
Jeffrey has used the early part of the season to mix and match doubles pairs, using 13 to date with the brothers duo of Jake and Jarred Wynan topping the list with a pair of wins.
The Privateers come into Friday with a 4-3 record, and 1-0 in Southland Conference play, most recently winning back-to-back matches against Abilene Christian and Tyler Junior College. They are led by Blake Gregor, the reigning Southland Conference player of the week.
Meanwhile, Jackson State will be gunning for their first win of the season, having dropped each of their first six matches of the year.
First serve against UNO is set for 3:00 p.m. at Cajun Courts, followed by a 6:00 p.m. start against Jackson State. Fans who attend the matches will have the opportunity to partake in free gumbo, available from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
