Talented group expected to compete immediately for Ragin' Cajuns

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer coach Scot Wieland announced on Wednesday the signing of six student-athletes who signed a National Letter of Intent for the 2015 season.

Signing with the Ragin' Cajuns were goalkeepers Cosette Morche (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Kristen Eddy (Madison, Miss.), defenders Alexyia Turner (Starkville, Miss.) and Madison Fulp (Round Rock, Texas), and midfielder/forwards Tiffany Raygor (Cumming, Ga.) and Sarah Kozlowski (Schaumburg, Ill).

"This is an extremely talented group that not only adds depth in some critical areas but makes us technically and physically better," Wieland said. "This group brings in a lot of experience nationally and all are expected to compete immediately for play time. I am very excited about these young ladies and I feel strongly that they will add another dimension to our experienced group of returners for next fall."

Morche, a four-year starter at Peachtree Ridge High School, is a two-time Georgia High School Region VII Goalkeeper of the Year and All-Region selection. She helped lead PRHS to a pair of Georgia High School regional championships and is a two-time All-Gwinnett County selection. Morche was selected to the 2013 Region III '97 ODP team to participate in the ODP Girl's Thanksgiving Interregional event and was selected to the 2013-14 Region III '97 ODP pool.

"Cosette has the ability, size and athleticism to make an immediate impact next fall in the net," Wieland said. "She has competed at high level and brings in many years of experience."

Eddy, a four-year starter at Madison Central High School, helped her team to the 2013-14 Class 6A state championship and was selected to the 2015 Mississippi All-Star soccer team. She was selected to compete in the first invitational soccer camp hosted by the Chicago Fire of the MLS, and was chosen to play with select regional players from five states at the 2013 Disney Showcase Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

"Kristen is a very strong, athletic goal keeper," Wieland said. "There is a huge upside to her and she has the potential to be an impact player for our program."

Turner, who played her final two years at Starkville High School, was named to both the Mississippi '96 Girls ODP team and the Kentucky '97 Girls ODP team. She was a two-year letterwinner at Dunbar (Ky.) High School, where she was an Academic All-State selection. Turner was named to the 2015 TopSoccer.com South Region team.

"Lexy is a tremendous athlete that will compete immediately for playing time on defense," Wieland said. "She has competed at a high level nationally, and with her speed and experience, she should impact our back line next fall."

Fulp, a three-time All-District selection at Cedar Ridge High School, helped her team to a pair of district championships and three appearances in the state playoffs. She earned all-district honors in her first three seasons with the Raiders and was named the district MVP as a junior. Her club team – Lonestar Soccer – competed in the Champion's bracket at the 2014 national tournament.

"Madison is a strong, athletic defender and will compete next fall for a spot in the back," Wieland said. "She makes great decisions in the back under pressure and is great in the air."

Raygor, a three-year starter at North Forsyth High School, scored 34 goals in her first three seasons with 17 assists. She led the Raiders in scoring her first two seasons at the prep level and twice earned Region 6A All-Region honors. Raygor was named the team's Freshman of the Year and was selected to the 2014 All-Forsyth County team.

"Tiffany is a very technical player that has a good tactical sense about her," Wieland said. "She makes great decisions, has a nose for the goal and will compete for playing time next fall."

Kozlowski, a three-year letterwinner at Schaumberg High School, was named to the Illinois State ODP team and competed at the ECNL PDP at the University of Michigan. She helped her high school team to the IHSA Class 3A regional championship and sectional finals. Koslowski was a top drawer soccer ECNL Texas Best XI U17 and U18 teams.

"Sarah is a competitor in the midfield and technically she will bring a lot to the table next fall," Wieland said. "She is physical, very composed under pressure, and will add great depth in the middle."

Louisiana, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, finished 9-8-2 overall in 2014 and 4-4-1 in league play.
