LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team looks to move closer to the 20-win barrier for the first time since the 2006-07 season when it entertains Georgia Southern in a Sun Belt Conference game on Saturday at the Cajundome.

Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Louisiana (17-9, 9-8 SBC) returns to action after a seven-day layoff that was culminated by a 56-42 loss at UT Arlington last Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns, in the midst of their best overall season since a 25-9 record in 2006-07, can secure 10 or more wins in Sun Belt Conference play for just the third time since joining the league in 1991-92. A win over Georgia Southern (4-22, 1-16 SBC) would match the 2005-06 squad that finished 18-10 under head coach J. Kelley Hall.

Last Time Out
- Freshman Rebekah Van Dijk posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and UT Arlington used a 12-0 run to pull away and defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team, 56-42, in a Sun Belt Conference game on Saturday at College Park Center.
- Chaun Williams added 11 points and seven rebounds for UTA (15-10, 9-7 SBC) with Morgan Holly adding nine points and eight boards. Keke Veal scored 14 points to lead Louisiana (17-9, 9-8 SBC) with Robbie Brown adding nine and Jaylyn Gordon eight.
- Gordon gave the Ragin' Cajuns an 18-17 lead when she buried a 3-pointer with 3:01 remaining in the first half before UTA closed out the half scoring the final eight points for a 25-18 lead at the break. Buckets by Van Dijk and Amara Wainwright pushed UTA's lead to 29-18 before the Ragin' Cajuns closed to within 29-25 after a bucket by Jodi Quinn with 14:31 remaining.
- Louisiana finished 16-for-53 (30.2 percent) from the floor, 4-for-15 from behind the 3-point line and 6-for-13 from the free throw line. Veal and Kia Wilridge recorded three assists and three steals each for the Ragin' Cajuns with Wilridge and Simone Fields grabbing a team-high four rebounds.

A Look at Georgia Southern
- Georgia Southern enters today's game with a 4-22 record and 1-16 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The Eagles are coming off a 66-39 loss at Appalachian State on Thursday and have lost their last 13 games.
- Patrice Butler was the lone scorer in double figures for Georgia Southern with 10 points to go along with six rebounds. Angel McGowan finished with seven points and four assists, and Briana Jones tallied six points and six boards. Sierra Kirkland finished with six points and seven rebounds.
- Georgia Southern struggled shooting the basketball all game, logging a 28 percent clip from the floor, including 1-for-19 from 3-point range, and making 6-of-14 from the free-throw line.
- The Eagles led 11-10 early before App State scored 10 straight points to open a 20-11 lead. The margin grew to as many as 16 points after a Carter layup with 2:29 to go, and App led 33-18 at the break.
- The Eagles scored the first six points of the second half and cut the margin to nine points on a pair of Kirkland free throws. The margin was 43-33 following a pair of Butler free throws midway through the frame, and Georgia Southern got a stop and had a chance to trim the deficit further but came up empty on the offensive end.
- Appalachian State responded with a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to open a 61-37 cushion, its largest of the game.

Series History
- Today's game will be the second ever meeting between the schools on the hardwood with Louisiana claiming a 69-57 victory in the previous matchup on Jan. 15 in Statesboro.
- Keke Veal scored 22 points and had five steals to lead the Ragin' Cajuns, who led from wire-to-wire.

Up Next
- Louisiana will wrap up its home schedule on Thursday, March 5, when it faces league leader UALR in a 5 p.m. contest.
- The Cajuns will honor four-year letterwinner and Lafayette native Robbie Brown - the team's lone senior.
- Louisiana will conclude the regular-season on Saturday, March 7, when it visits Arkansas State in a 3:05 p.m. contest at the ASU Convocation Center.
