LAFAYETTE, La.- Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head women's tennis coach Greg Harkins has announced the addition of local product Heather Mixon to the roster for the 2015 fall season.

Mixon, from New Iberia, La.,(Catholic HS), is currently the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Louisiana and No. 24 in the Gulf States region. Additionally, she has moved up to a ranking of 239 nationally.

"We are delighted that Heather has chosen to play tennis and continue her studies here at the University of Louisiana," Harkins said. "She is a strong competitor who will add depth to our lineup for the Fall 2015 season. She is the No. 1 player currently in Louisiana and has high ambitions to continue improving and to make an impact on this team when she arrives."

She owns 27 wins this season and recently picked up three wins against ranked opponents in the Girls 18 Singles portion of the Louisiana Spring Championships in Lake Charles.

"Heather is also a star student at Catholic High School," Harkins said. "She is focused on and off the court and embodies what we expect in our squad. She will do well and have success in the program."

"We try to recruit Louisiana girls when possible and due to the success of UL and the growth in the community our school has become very appealing to the student-athletes of the area and state," Harkins said.

Mixon will give the Cajuns a pair of local products on the roster, joining Baton Rouge native Abby Johnson.
