LAFAYETTE – Tickets for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team's appearance in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI), presented by Coca Cola, are currently on sale at the Cajundome Box Office and on-line at RaginCajuns.com.
General admission tickets are $10 for adults with the first 500 UL students, with a valid University I.D., admitted free, courtesy of Coca Cola – the official soft drink of the Ragin' Cajuns. All UL students who attend will receive a free hot dog and soft drink while supplies last.
Louisiana (19-12), the No. 2 seed in the West Region, will host seventh-seeded UT Pan American (19-14) in the first round on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Earl K. Long Gym. The winner would advance to the second round and face the winner of Thursday's contest between No. 3-seeded Furman and No. 6-seeded McNeese State.
A win by Louisiana would guarantee a second-round contest on Saturday at home for the Ragin' Cajuns with a scheduled tipoff at 7 p.m.
The Ragin' Cajuns, who are making their debut appearance in the WBI, are making their second postseason berth in school history after competing in the 2007 NCAA Women's Basketball Championships. Louisiana, under third-year head coach Garry Brodhead, recorded its first winning season since 2006-07 and advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The WBI is a four-round, 16-team, single-elimination bracketed tournament. All games are held at campus sites. The quarterfinals will be held on either March 21 or 22. The semifinals are scheduled for March 25 or 26. The WBI Championship Game will be contested on either March 28 or 29.
