Cajuns Fall To No. 18 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – Jarred Wynan and Coleman Wahlberg teamed up for a doubles win, but the No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs did not surrender a point in getting by the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 7-0, on Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs, who sported a pair of nationally-ranked singles players and two doubles teams ranking in the national top 30, surrendered just one set in singles play and captured each of the top two doubles matches to move to 11-5 on the season and drop the Cajuns to 9-9.

After No. 23 Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson got by Jake Wynan and Will Huyton (6-2), at No. 2 doubles Jarred Wynan and Wahlberg squared doubles play with a (6-4) win on the third court over Facundo Lugones and Blake Hudson.

But the Horned Frogs still managed to go up 1-0 in the match when No. 29 Nick Chappell and Will Stein pulled out a hard-fought victory on the top doubles court (7-5) over the Cajuns top duo of Edgar Lopez and Damian Farinola.

TCU then swept through singles play as Huyton was the lone Cajun to take a set from the Frogs, falling to Stein (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) on the No. 3 court. The Horned Frogs got wins from No. 39 Chappell over Jake Wynan (6-3, 6-4) at No. 1 singles and Guillermo Nunez, the nation's 116^th-ranked player, got by Farinola (6-3, 6-4), in addition to victories at each of the match's other three singles slots.

Louisiana will continue its brutal non-conference schedule when it travels to No. 34 Texas Tech on Sunday.
