Men's Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader From Alcorn State

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday, sweeping past Alcorn State, 4-0, on each end of a doubleheader at Cajun Courts.
The Cajuns (11-10) dominated the Braves (5-11) from the start, not surrendering a set in either singles or doubles play. Edgar Lopez and Damian Farinola each picked up two singles wins apiece, while teaming up to win their second straight doubles match.
Lopez held firm on the first court in both matches, taking care of Ernesto Santillian (6-3, 6-2) in the first set before cruising by Nikita Kostikov (6-1, 6-3) in the nightcap. He also teamed up with Farinola in the day's first match to pick off the duo of Santillian and Kostikov (6-4) at No. 1 doubles to help spur the Cajuns to the doubles point and the first of two 4-0 wins on the day.
Meanwhile, Farinola was nearly as dominant in singles play himself, winning two matches on the No. 2 court. He started off the day with a (6-2, 6-1) win over Kostikov before rallylling past Santillian (4-6, 6-0, 6-4) his second singles match of the day
The Cajun also scored two wins in doubles play in the doubleheader opener before clinching the second match in singles play. Coleman Wahlborg and Jarred Wynan earned a (6-3) win at No. 2 doubles over Nischay Rawal and Vasudev Vijayaraman while Vlad Kramarov and Will Huyton picked off Garry Amor and Kilian Salgado on the No. 3 court.
Huyton clinched the day's first win with a (6-2, 6-1) victory over Rawal at No. 3 singles, and the Cajuns closed things out in the second match with wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles play. Wahlborg scored the third point of the finale with a (6-2, 6-2) win over Salgado at No. 5, while Jarred Wynan cruised to a (6-2, 6-2) straight-set win of his own over Amor at No. 6.
Louisiana has another tough weekend ahead of it when it goes to Houston, Texas, this weekend for a trio of matches, starting Saturday at Rice. The Cajuns will then face No. 40 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a rematch of the title match of the HEB Tournament of Champions on Saturday before closing out the weekend against George Washington.
