Women's Tennis Drops Two In Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns wrapped up the regular season on the road over the weekend, dropping a pair of 6-1 decisions at North Florida and Central Florida on Friday and Saturday.
Alexandra Way scored the lone point for the Cajuns (4-18) with a No. 3 singles win against the Ospreys (15-3) on Friday, while freshman Abby Johnson picked up a No. 4 singles win on Saturday at UCF (12-6).
But that was all the shorthanded Cajuns could muster against two of the top teams in the state of Florida. Louisiana fielded just two doubles teams in the two matches, allowing the Ospreys and Golden Knights to need just one doubles win to secure the doubles point in each match, with each pick up that point on the No. 1 court.
Way scored a point for the Cajuns with a straight-set (6-4, 6-2) win on Friday over UNF's Taylor Hollander at No. 3 singles, but that did not come until the Ospreys had claimed each of the first five available singles points in straight sets.
A day later the Golden Knights captured each of the first five singles points as well before Johnson outlasted UCF's Clare Mendell on the No. 4 court, picking up the win in a tiebreaker (6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6)) to finish out the match.
The Cajuns will now gear up for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament, beginning Thursday, April 16 in New Orleans.
